Elder Abuse Fatality Review Teams: A Replication Manual (June 2019) OVC-Sponsored, Grant, 201 pages, NCJ 210901.
Elder abuse fatality review teams review deaths caused by or related to elder abuse and can improve the response of community agencies to elder abuse victims. This publication, created with funding support from OVC, provides guidance to communities interested in establishing similar teams. This document was updated in June 2019 to include information on the criteria and selection of cases for review, confidentiality practices, preventing "blame and shame," and a comparison of 27 categories of professionals serving as team members. It is available electronically from American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging (www.americanbar.org/groups/law_aging/resources/elder_abuse/elder-abuse-fatality-review-team-projects-and-resources).

Victim Service Providers in the United States, 2017 (November 2019) BJS, NCJ 252648.
This report provides statistics from the National Census of Victim Service Providers, the first national data collection on the number and characteristics of these organizations. The report describes the types of organizations that serve victims, maps their locations, and reports on the rate of victim service providers per 100,000 U.S. residents by state. The census was conducted by the Bureau of Justice Statistics with support from OVC.

Questioning Bias: Validating A Bias Crime Victim Assessment Tool In California And New Jersey, Summary Overview (July 2018) NIJ-Sponsored, Grant, 29 pages, NCJ 252010.
This study investigated the experiences of hate incidents, crimes and factors affecting underreporting among youth and adults in LGBT, Hispanic, Black, Muslim communities in New Jersey and Los Angeles. Based on the research findings, the Vera Institute of Justice developed an assessment tool, the Bias Crime Assessment Tool, to improve the identification of hate crime victimization, better reflect victims’ experiences, increase confidence in the reporting process, and help to record more accurate data.

Social Support Can Diminish Negative Effects of Elder Abuse (December 2017) NIJ-Sponsored, Grant, 2 pages, NCJ 251468.
This article summarizes the findings of a series of studies that have identified the critical role of social support in preventing and ameliorating the adverse effects of elder abuse. These research findings may help inform how victim service providers and allied professionals respond to victims of elder abuse.

Crime Against Persons With Disabilities, 2009-2015 - Statistical Tables (July 2017) BJS, Report, 17 pages, NCJ 250632.
This report presents 2009-2015 National Crime Victimization Survey estimates of nonfatal violent crime (rape or sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault) against persons age 12 or older with disabilities. It includes crime characteristics, such as victim-offender relationship, time of crime, reporting to police, and use of victim services agencies.

Office for Victims of Crime (OVC): American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Sexual Assault Response Team (SANE-SART) Initiative

Victims of Crime Act (VOCA)-Funded Elder Abuse Programs
In August of 2016, a new VOCA Rule clarified and expanded states’ allowable uses of VOCA victim assistance funding. The rule clarifies and expands how states may expend the funding, and states are looking to support all victims, including victims of elder abuse. This OVC page highlights examples of VOCA–funded elder abuse programs and the VOCA offices that funded them.

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
The VA works to provide veterans the world-class benefits and services they have earned.
 
National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA)
NCEA is a resource for public and private agencies, professionals, service providers, and individuals interested in elder abuse prevention information, training, technical assistance, and research.
 
Office on Violence Against Women (OVW)
OVW, a component of the U.S. Department of Justice, provides federal leadership to reduce violence against women and to administer justice for and strengthen services to all victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
 
U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS): Eldercare Locator

FATE serves as a voice for patients and works to bring about national reforms and enforcement of the laws governing the nursing home industry and its regulatory agencies in order to assure proper care, civil rights and meaningful, dignified life for the elderly in long-term care facilities.
 
National Congress of American Indians
NCAI offers information on issues such as tribal self-government, treaty rights, and federal policy. The Web site includes a calendar of upcoming events and a directory of links to tribal governments.
 
National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA)
NICWA is a national organization focused specifically on the tribal capacity to prevent child abuse and neglect.
 
National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA)
NICOA advocates for American Indian and Alaska Native elders, striving to better the lives of the Nation's indigenous seniors through advocacy, employment training, dissemination of information, and data support.
 
Violence & Injury Prevention Program and Disability (VIP)
