Promoting Effective Criminal Investigations of Campus Sex Crimes, Summary Report (November 2012) OVC, 53 pages, NCJ 240177.
OVC, the Office on Violence Against Women, and the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services partnered with the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators and the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights to conduct a forum that addressed the topic of enhancing criminal investigations of campus sex crimes. This report summarizes the discussion at the forum and provides a list of resources for those working to investigate sex crimes.

Using Federal Law To Prosecute Domestic Violence Crimes in Indian Country Guide/DVD (October 2012) OVC, OVC Videos, 40 pages, NCJ 238639.
This DVD and companion facilitator's guide provide guidance on how to successfully prosecute in federal court domestic violence offenders who commit crimes in Indian Country. The video incorporates case studies of actual prosecutions, while the guide provides an overview of relevant legal principles and key points for discussion. The materials also discuss circumstances common in tribal domestic violence prosecutions, such as offender recidivism, recanting victims, safety planning, and federal and tribal criminal justice and social service professionals working collaboratively to ensure victims' safety and community justice.

Attorney General Guidelines for Victim and Witness Assistance 2011 Edition (Revised May 2012) (May 2012) OVC, 66 pages, NCJ 235121.
These guidelines establish policy and provide guidance to be followed by U.S. Department of Justice personnel in their interactions with crime victims and witnesses. Effective October 1, 2011, these guidelines clarified DOJ's responsibilities to provide mandated rights and services enumerated in the Crime Victims’ Rights Act (CVRA) and the Victims' Rights and Restitution Act (VRRA) as well as other statutory requirements. Furthermore, the guidelines examine the unique requirements of vulnerable victims, including a recent update in May 2012 that addresses the scope of the federal child abuse reporting requirement under section 13031 of the Victims of Child Abuse Act of 1990, 42 U.S.C. § 13031.

Strengthening Sexual Assault Victim's Right to Privacy (April 2009) OVC, Electronic Document, 13 pages, NCJ 226501.
This online guide, developed by Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services, Inc., provides recommendations to statewide sexual assault coalitions and rape crisis centers concerned with protecting sexual assault victims’ privacy. It addresses common challenges, discusses core concepts, and offers practical tips to maintain victim confidentiality to better serve victims.

FY 2013 Services for Victims of Human Trafficking (PDF 457 kb)
Deadline: 06/10/2013
Approximately seven cooperative agreements of up to $400,000 each will be awarded to provide timely, high-quality services to victims of human trafficking as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, as amended, and to enhance interagency collaboration and coordination in the provision of services to such victims. Funding will support either a comprehensive array of services for all trafficking victims, or specialized services for trafficking victims. Funding also will support efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to victims through the development of interagency partnerships and professional training, public outreach, and awareness campaigns. Those applying are urged to begin in advance of the June 10, 2013, deadline.
