This OVC-funded webinar will instruct participants about unfair practices, such as the unfair treatment of borrowers in protected classes, and abusive practices, including late posting of timely payments, imposing unnecessary mandatory insurance, and failure to provide final payoff amounts to borrowers seeking to sell or refinance. This webinar will discuss the role of the "mortgage loan servicer"-the company that accepts the monthly mortgage payments—and how unfair and/or abusive loan servicing can drive a borrower into default or incorrectly increase the amount claimed to be due.
Join Diane Cipollone, Esq., Director of Training, National Fair Housing Alliance, to learn how to:
-Identify the protected classes under the Fair Housing Act and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. -Recognize unfair and abusive mortgage servicing practices. -Provide information for borrowers and their advocates to resolve a dispute with the mortgage loan servicer. -File complaints against mortgage loan servicers. |
