OVC is sponsoring one consultant to deliver a 1-hour "Domestic and Teen Dating Violence Awareness" presentation at 8 separate locations to students and candlelight vigil participants in and around Raton, New Mexico. This presentation series, organized by the nonprofit agency Alternatives to Violence, will enhance these rural communities' knowledge and sensitivity regarding the dynamics and impact of domestic and teen dating violence, in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This event is supported by the Office for Victims of Crime in coordination with the Office on Violence Against Women and the Office for Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. In all, approximately 700 community program leaders, school district representatives, students and victim service providers from Northeastern New Mexico are expected to attend the presentation series.
