OVC is sponsoring two consultants to each deliver a 90-minute workshop at the Box Elder Coalition Against Domestic Violence Annual Conference sponsored by the New Hope Crisis Center of Box Elder County. The first workshop, "Financial Elder Abuse: Destroying the Myths," will focus on strengthening the response of law enforcement and the judicial system to financial elder abuse. The second workshop, "How a Rape Victim 'Should' Act," will enhance participants' understanding of the psychological impact of rape and sexual assault on victims. This event is supported by the Office for Victims of Crime in coordination with the Office on Violence Against Women. Approximately 75 program administrators, law enforcement, corrections, probation and court personnel, emergency and health care providers, judges, prosecutors, tribal and faith-based service providers, mental health professionals, victim advocates, city and county officials, Division of Child and Family Services representatives, local school district representatives, and family support center board members are expected to attend both workshops, with a 18-member local SART development team joining the audience for the second workshop.
