This guide is designed to help communities and victim assistance providers promote awareness of crime victim issues, the Guide includes educational content, campaign materials, artwork, and a theme DVD. New this year are three pre-produced 30-second PSAs addressing child sexual abuse, child sex trafficking, and elder financial fraud.

The directory includes "distance learning," "in-person training" and "training by request" opportunities. Part of the NCVRW Resource Guide, this DVD includes a 5-minute feature video —New Challenges. New Solutions. —and three 30-second television public service announcements (PSAs) that address the topics of child sexual abuse, child sex trafficking, and elder abuse. OVC encourages organizations to use the introductory theme DVD throughout the year at public awareness, education, and training events in local communities to promote and advance the cause of justice for victims of crime.

This study examined the effectiveness of existing U.S. Federal and State legislation in providing prosecutors with the tools needed to gain convictions of those charged with human trafficking, defined as "the use of force, fraud, or coercion to exploit a person for profit."

Responding to Victims of Human Trafficking: A Training Video for Victim Service Providers (April 2008)

This 20-minute DVD, produced with the assistance of Safe Horizon, addresses the need for the victim services field to work in partnership with those who provide services to immigrants and with other allied practitioners to better serve victims of human trafficking. It was designed to help traditional victim service providers expand their skills and resources to meet the needs of trafficking victims. A component of this DVD is a guide that provides resources for information about what defines human trafficking and the response to this crime by the U.S. Government, the international community, and nongovernmental entities.

This is the first-ever assessment on the needs of trafficking victims and the domestic service providers who work with them. The report, complete with survey instruments and focus group protocols, should help educate the field at large on meeting the specialized and complex needs of trafficking victims.

Victims of Trafficking: Far From Home and Helpless (Videotape) (August 2000)

This 17.5-minute video examines trafficking by providing an introduction to the issues and case studies of victims of forced prostitution, forced labor, and indentured servitude. In addition, the video examines victim referral services. Developed to educate victim service providers and federal law enforcement personnel about the problems associated with trafficking and slavery, the video describes what forms trafficking can take, how to recognize the victims, and how to treat the victims. Furthermore, the video highlights the importance of agency partnerships, caring for victims, and developing a case against a defendant. Available to federal victim service providers only.
